Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 31, 2026
The short version
What Nelumi hears and sees in your baby's room stays between your own devices. There is no Nelumi account and no Nelumi server. Live sound and video go straight from the baby station to your paired phone or iPad, encrypted, and are never recorded or stored. Your pregnancy records and night summaries stay on your devices and in your own backups. Besides your own backups and Apple's App Store, what leaves your device goes to two services, both described below: RevenueCat, which handles purchases, and Amplitude, which receives anonymous usage events that you can turn off.
Live sound and video
- Sound and video from the baby station travel only between your own paired devices, over your local Wi-Fi or a direct device-to-device link. They never pass through a server, ours or anyone else's.
- The connection is encrypted with TLS, using keys your devices create when you pair them.
- Nelumi never records or stores sound or video. What you hear and see is live, and it is gone once it has played.
Camera, microphone and Local Network
- Microphone, on the baby station: to listen for crying, which Nelumi detects on the device itself, and to let you hear the room.
- Camera, on the baby station: to show you the room, and only while a parent is watching.
- Camera, on the parent's phone or iPad: only to scan the pairing code shown on the baby station. Typing the code works too.
- Local Network: only to find and connect your paired devices.
What stays on your devices
These stay on your own devices and are never sent to Nadelos:
- Night history: the monitor's working journal, the night summaries (alert times, quiet stretches and gaps in the connection) and your longest quiet stretch so far. The working journal is excluded from backups. Usage analytics learn only the facts listed in the next section, never the times, counts or contents of your night history beyond the time of each event.
- Pregnancy records: contractions, kicks, your due date, notes and the contacts you add. Nelumi never sends them anywhere; a PDF of your labor goes only where you share it yourself.
- Your baby's name, if you choose to add one, and the names of your rooms.
Pregnancy records, night summaries, your longest quiet stretch and your baby's name go into your own device backup (iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer), if you make one. You can delete night history at any time in Nelumi's Settings, with Delete night history. Deleting the app deletes all of it from the device.
What leaves your device
- Purchases. Apple processes every purchase through your Apple Account; we never see your payment details. To unlock Nelumi Monitor, our purchase provider RevenueCat receives your purchases and subscription status, the App Store transaction data and a random, anonymous RevenueCat customer ID. With each request, RevenueCat's software also sends your App Store country and an identifier that iOS assigns to this device for our apps. This works the same whether or not usage sharing is on. Nothing from RevenueCat reaches our analytics provider, and no identifier links the two.
- Apple Ads attribution. Once per install, RevenueCat also receives Apple's ad attribution token, which tells us which Apple Ads campaign, if any, led to the install. It does not identify you and is not used to track you across other companies' apps. It is sent whether or not usage sharing is on.
Anonymous usage analytics. While Share anonymous usage data is on in Nelumi's Settings, Nelumi sends a small set of anonymous usage events to Amplitude, our analytics provider. The switch is on when you first open Nelumi. Each event carries the time it was sent, a random identifier that Amplitude's software creates on this device for Nelumi (not your advertising identifier, and not the identifier iOS assigns for our apps) and a session number; there is no user ID, account, name or email. Amplitude adds the app and iOS versions, the device make and model, your phone's language and the platform, and Nelumi adds your App Store country. Amplitude is told not to record your IP address, your mobile carrier or the country of your phone's region setting, so it records no location of any kind. The events are:
- In pregnancy mode: that the welcome began, its two screens, and its completion once you choose pregnancy mode; in Settings, taps on Contact us, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and turning this switch on. Nothing about contractions, pauses, kicks, your due date or your contraction record.
- In baby mode: that setup began, and whether you came from pregnancy mode, which is how a move from pregnancy mode to baby mode is recorded; each setup screen, its end, the Continue and Skip taps and the monitor preview you saw; whether this device is the parent's or the station; the permission requests for notifications, the camera and the local network, and your answers; pairing, a failed pairing and removing a device; each night's start, and its end with its length as a broad range and whether the connection had a gap, or that the station was lost; the night's first alert that reached your phone, at most once a night, with its kind; each lost connection; a test alert; opening the morning summary; using a free night; the night's buttons, such as start, stop, acknowledge or mute an alert; changes and taps in Settings; the plans screen, its buttons and each purchase step, with the plan, product, price and currency, and a trial reminder being scheduled; and a request for an App Store rating after your first clean morning summary. Because each event carries its time, analytics learns when a night started and ended, when its first alert came and when each loss of connection ended.
- Your setup answers, as categories: whether you added a name for your baby (never the name itself), where your baby sleeps, your main worry, and which device is the station.
- Never sent: sound, video or sound levels; how many times your baby cried or how many alerts a night had; the names of your baby, your rooms or your devices; anything about contractions, pauses, kicks, your due date or your contraction record; the night journal and the morning summaries themselves (quiet stretches, cry episodes, the list of alerts); exact durations (a night's length goes only as a broad range, though the events that mark its start and end carry their times); any location, contacts, photos or your advertising identifier. Nothing is used for ads or tracking.
You can turn analytics off at any time with the switch in Nelumi's Settings. While it is off, no usage event and no setup answer is sent, and from the next launch Nelumi does not start the analytics service at all. Events recorded before you turned it off may still be uploaded during that session.
Notifications
Alerts, such as crying in the baby's room or a lost connection, and reminders are local notifications, created on your own devices. Nelumi uses no push server.
What we never do
- We never track you across other companies' apps or websites, and Nelumi shows no ads.
- We never sell your data.
- We never ask for an account, your name or your email address.
- We never receive sound, video, pregnancy records or night summaries from your devices.
Third parties
RevenueCat and Amplitude receive only what this policy describes and process it on our behalf; Apple handles payments under its own terms. Their privacy policies: Apple, RevenueCat, Amplitude.
Retention and your rights
Data on your devices stays until you delete it: night history in Nelumi's Settings, everything else by deleting the app. Nelumi's pairing keys, and a small record it uses to manage access to the monitor (for example, whether a free night has been used), are kept in your device's keychain, which iOS can keep after an app is deleted. They hold nothing about your baby or your nights.
Anonymous analytics and purchase records are kept by our providers for as long as needed for the purposes above. Because they are not linked to your identity, we usually cannot look up your data, but if you contact us we will help with any access or deletion request as far as the data can be identified.
Children
Nelumi is made for parents and parents-to-be. It is not directed at children and does not collect personal information from children. The sound and video of your baby's room go only between your own devices, as described above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
